Beaufort Hill, Wellington Street, Clayfield

Our new series on the Clark Real Estate Blog is dedicated to showing the rich history we have in our local area. This week we have the historically important Beaufort Hill in Clayfield.

Beaufort Hill was built in 1896. The building has been part of a varied history including being used as a 35 bed hospital and being the residence of the first Labor Premier of Queensland, T.J. Ryan. During World War 2, the property was owned by Edward Hawkins. He allowed use of the watch tower to the United States Air Force for reconnaissance. Sadly, this historic landmark was demolished in 1986.
