Improvements for North-East Brisbane
Although in the middle of an economic downturn, the North-East corridor of Brisbane is experiencing a resurgance of upgrades in infrastructure and development projects. Brisbane City Council has given approval for the planning of multi-level buildings to be constructed in the areas of Bracken Ridge, Boondall, Bald Hills, Bridgeman Downs, Carseldine, Zillmere, and Deagon under the Bracken Ridge and Districts Neighbourhood Plan.
In Banyo, the Suburban Centre Improvement Project (SCIP) has been approved to begin construction in March of 2010 with 10 out of 18 local businesses voting for improvements to be made in the banyo commercial centre with a cost to local businesses of $350,000 over ten years.
Work has also commenced on the new Queensland Emergency Operations Centre, the 78 million dollar facility which will host the headquarters of Queensland ambulance, fire and rescue, and emergency management. The centre will employ up to two hundred staff during peak periods.
